Message from the CEO

I have never been happier to be wrong in my predictions. I am proud to announce we have completed the Arizona Veterans Administration agreement for ketamine therapy for mental health conditions (depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc.) as a covered benefit. This agreement is for our Phoenix, Mesa/Gilbert, and Tucson offices. Not only are we contracted, but we are also getting referrals from VA physicians for our service members who are not getting the help they had hoped for from traditional therapies.  We are currently negotiating with the Community Care Network of Nevada to become an in-network provider as well. For years I was skeptical this would happen but am pleased to know we can now offer this service to so many more of our veterans with little to no out-of-pocket costs.

In May we celebrate nurses’ day as well as EMS day. We are so proud to have some of the best, most compassionate staff I have ever worked with in our clinics. The selection of our outstanding staff is guided by five core values of compassion, precision, integrity, dignity, and innovation to help us understand the reason for their interest in ketamine therapy and KWC. Consistently, our clinical staff rank compassion as the strongest value which draws them to KWC. Traditional healthcare has become very compartmentalized over the years with individual areas of excellence within hospitals and clinics. Most of the time clinical staff in these settings would get a few days with a patient before graduating them to the next level of care. As a retired ICU burn nurse, I was fortunate to be able to spend weeks with a patient before transitioning them to the next level. I would still often wonder how my young patients and their families were doing once they left my ICU. In contrast, the clinical staff at KWC has the opportunity to get to know their patients, understand their struggles with their illness, and how it has affected their families. And, the best part is when the treatment works, we get to hear about the dramatic and positive changes to the patient and their family. On behalf of all of us, I want to thank our clinical teams for the care and compassion they bring to our clinics and to each of our patients every day.
