Recently during one of my trips between Arizona and Colorado, I had the opportunity to speak to a very nice gentleman about Ketamine Wellness Centers and the types of conditions we treat. After about 30 minutes of sharing how the treatment works differently than normal anti-depressant medications, as well as the safety profile and limited side effects, it was obvious this man was asking because someone he knew was suffering.

As we were about to board the plane the man asked for my card because his son, who was only 14-years old, was struggling with depression and had been for over three years. As a father of seven children myself, I am grateful everyday to not have them struggle with this horribly hidden affliction. I informed him that we have treated patients as young as 12-years old with no side effects and great outcomes. The man was grateful to learn more and was going to do some additional research and talk with his son’s psychiatrist.  I wished him all the best and we parted ways. There are many parents who learn about Ketamine infusion therapy too late.

Sadly, this was just one conversation that happened in a very busy airport. Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death of children ages 10 – 14 and the 2nd leading cause of death in people ages 15 – 24. Please, please talk about it and if you know someone who’s child is suffering, let them know there are options available.
