After more than a decade struggling with what would eventually be diagnosed as Bipolar II disorder, ketamine therapy has been the first thing to provide any sort of lasting and safe relief. Every medication and therapeutic modality under the sun was thrown at my problem, but nothing worked. Luckily, my mother heard a piece on NPR about ketamine and talked to me about it. Ketamine treatment has been nothing short of miraculous for me. Within 8 treatments, it has completely eliminated any thoughts of suicide, restored my energy and brightness, driven away the fatigue that kept me in bed 10-14 hours per day, and brought me back into the world, while not leading to any manic or hypomanic episodes. All of a sudden I started having breakthroughs in talk therapy, group therapy, and EMDR. My creative energy has returned and I find myself pursuing my passions again. It was like all the work towards recovery that I’d done over the last decade was built up like a reservoir, and ketamine opened the floodgates. The staff at KWC really know what they are doing. If you’re suffering from treatment resistant BP2 or depression, give it a shot… if it works half as well for you as it has for me it will be well worth it.
