It was recently revealed that Lady Gaga has been struggling with Fibromyalgia, a medical condition characterized by chronic and widespread pain. It is often described as a “head to toe pain” that is felt in the muscle and joints. The singer/pop star was forced to cancel her remaining tour dates recently and in an emotional statement, discussed the cost of living with chronic pain:
“I use the word suffer not only because trauma and chronic pain have changed my life, but because they are keeping me from living a normal life. They are also keeping me from what I love the most in the world: performing for my fans.”
For many patients, chronic pain syndromes can cause co-occurring depression and even without diagnosis, many of the clinical symptoms can be consistent with major depressive disorder. Chronic widespread pain may be your body’s way of expressing the same imbalance or disturbance as tearfulness, an inability to focus, and negative thinking (psychological expressions of depression).
Chronic health issues can affect anybody regardless of health, lifestyle, wealth, and notoriety. It’s effects on the individual can be absolutely debilitating and as Lady Gaga identified in her public statement, suffering from chronic conditions is an obstacle to living a normal life.
Furthermore, Fibromyalgia is a disease which originates from no known cause. Ketamine infusions have been shown, in studies, to reduce the central nervous system sensitization associated with increased pain in both disorders. Here at Ketamine Wellness Centers, we treat a volume of patients who suffer from Fibromyalgia and have seen substantial relief from our clinical treatment program.
If you, or someone in your life is struggling with chronic illness, the professionals at Ketamine Wellness Center are happy to speak with you to determine whether Ketamine may be a viable treatment option.
There is hope. There is help.
