Ketamine for Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia

Dr. Ashraf Hanna had a 49-year old patient who described the constant pain she was in as 10 out of 11. She had both rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. Nothing else worked. So, Dr. Hanna prescribed ketamine infusion.

For the first time in her life, she found success.

The Process

The patient was in extreme pain and stiffness 24/7 due to her advanced cased of rheumatoid arthritis. She had limited movement in her finger joints, wrists, and shoulders, which affected her daily life. Her diagnosis of fibromyalgia only further resulted in a low quality of life.

Dr. Hanna decided on a 10-day IV ketamine infusion protocol for 4 hours a day. The initial dose was 428 mg and gradually increased to 1,063 mg. The results? She reported decreased pain after only the first session. Her RA symptoms significantly improved; she no longer experienced pain and stiffness in the morning.

After the 10th day, her pain was almost completed eliminated.

How it Works

Dr. Hanna explains, “ketamine appears to possess unique immunomodulatory and analgesic properties that effectively [reduce] inflammation and reduce pain without the use of opioid/NSAID analgesics.”

Ketamine blocks something called the NMDA receptor. This receptor is responsible for the body’s underlying neural network and processes pain to the central nervous system. Ketamine corrects any over-activation caused by this receptor.

Hanna’s medical journal notes, “Since ketamine is already an FDA-approved drug with decades of safe human experience, there is considerably less risk for pharmaceutical companies willing to pursue new indications with patient-friendly routes of administration. We are hopeful that future adequately powered and placebo-controlled clinical trials may confirm that ketamine is safe and effective for the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as RA.”

He, like many others, hopes that one day all insurance companies will cover responsible ketamine infusion. Thousands are finding a solution for pain in ketamine. Contact Ketamine infusion centers and learn how today.
