Writing Tips

Writing – A Few Things We’ve Learned:

Be authentic. The best stories are short, honest, intimate, humble, and full of heart.

Choose just one story. A single story can’t possibly contain the whole scope of your journey, but a deeper dive into a particular experience or aspect can be powerful.

Show us, don’t tell us. For example, think of watching a movie scene play out moment by moment versus listening to a newscaster summarize a news story–the movie creates more emotion and meaning.

Find the heart of your story. Stay close to it. Seek the deeper meaning of the events or turning points in your journey and share them from your heart. Emotional, spiritual, and physical challenges are the lifeblood of good storytelling and something every one of us can relate to.

Writing Prompts

  • If you could talk to your pre-treatment self, what would you say?
  • What's the best part of your life after treatment?
  • Was there one moment when you realized you felt better?
  • Besides ketamine, what has been the most helpful part of your recovery strategy?
  • What would you say to someone who is thinking about trying ketamine therapy?
